You don't need to go for thistles to make this look work - other flowers such as roses or no flowers at all work equally well. |

Too Good To Eat Tartan Icing Wedding Cake. The perfect Scottish touch.
We were always so overwhelmed by the response to our Scottish theme wedding cakes that we came up with the ultimate touch - Tartan Icing.
The Scottish Look
If you wish to have a Scottish wedding, with the gentlemen in specific tartan kilts, traditional thistles in the bride's bouquet and perhaps the romantic setting of a Scottish Castle, then this look will will definitely enhance your theme.
The Tartan Icing
The special handmade Too Good To Eat Tartan Icing is prepared and decorated to drape like a piece of tartan fabric down the length of your cake. It is entirely 100% edible Tartan Icing is handmade every time to match as closely as possible to the tartan of your choice. The effect is so authentic that we are still surprised by the number of people who still don't realise that it is not real fabric when they see it!
The Flowers
The popular choice of flower whether sugar, silk or fresh, is usually thistles which can be mixed with heather or used in a spray of their own. However, there are no restrictions limiting you to this choice for the authentic look. This design works well with any variety of flowers such as roses and blossom.
The Tiers
We quite often use our Tartan Icing with a stacked style cake (without pillars) so that the Tartan Icing can drape continuously down the length of your cake. But of course, we can advise you on the best options if you would prefer the look of pillars as well. We will also advise you on what types of cake you can use in this design which will include Rich Fruit, Chocolate Fudge and Madeira Sponge and our new Orange "Jaffa" sponge. Click here for other Flavours & Fillings.
Because of the impact of the beautiful decoration, this design works well on plain white or ivory iced tiers sealed at the joins with a simple piped icing. But it can also be complimented with sugarcraft on the sides like Celtic knotwork and other simple but effective icing designs.
